Founded in 1986, by Dr. M. Aram and Mrs. Minoti Aram along with fellow Gandhians, 'Shanti Ashram' has been striving hard and tirelessly working towards the uplifting the lives of the village communities through their people-centered programs. Today, Christmas celebrations were organised at the Ashram for hundreds of it's inmates.
Members of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), Coimbatore and Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) members joined the Christmas celebrations at the Shanti Ashram. With the 300 inmates of the shelter home, the team brought indefinite smiles in the faces of the children, including those suffering from HIV.

As part of the celebrations medical camp for children under the age of 18 was organized and scholarships were distributed to the students. SIO members distributed 'Ilampirai' a children’s book in Tamil to the all the 300 children at the home. The students flipped the pages of the books with enthusiasm. The childrens' thoroughly enjoyed the event along with sumptuous Christmas lunch that was served to them.
