Jewellery, cash stolen

Two unidentified men stole gold jewellery weighing about 280 gm, and Rs. 10,000 from the house of Gowri (60) at Jothi Nagar in Podanur early on Thursday.

The police said that she was alone at the house, as her husband Nataraj had gone to his native place Karaikudi.

His mother had died earlier this month. Their two sons live in other parts of Coimbatore. Around 2.30 a.m. the woman had gone to toilet outside the house, leaving the backdoor open.

It is suspected that the two entered the house at that time.

After collecting the valuables, they left through the back door locking it up.

She alerted her neighbours immediately.
