Cyclists cover 900 km through Indian Terrain's 'Tour of Nilgiris 2016'.

A journey of 900kms through the Indian terrain’s of Karnataka, Kerala and TamilNadu concluded for the Indian Terrain Tour of Nilgiris 2016 cyclists at Vivanta by Taj - Surya, Coimbatore, this evening.



At the Champions Dinner of the Indian Terrain Tour of Nilgiris 2016, 110 riders were honored for the spirit of sportsmanship exhibited by them in the eight day long journey amidst their family and friends. Famous illusionist and mentalist, Akshay Laxman,entertained the gathering with his performances on mind reading, while the different sponsors acknowledged the winners of the various competitive categories.



The Indian TerrainTour of Nilgiris (TfN) 2016 that was flagged-off on 16 th December in Bangalore had cyclists pedal through Mysuru, Kalpetta, Ooty, Thaishola, Palakkad, Valparai and finally ended their ride at Pollachi in Tamil Nadu. The participants went through three wildlife sanctuaries – Mudumalai National Park &Annamalai tiger reserve in Tamil Nadu and Nagarhole National Park in Karnataka that challenged their endurance, temperament and physical and mental strength.

The CEO of Indian Terrain Fashions Ltd., Mr. Charath Narsimhan, said at the event “Over the last 8 days the riders have experienced a mix of scenic beauty and challenging climbs. Even after such a tough journey, I am extremely delighted
to see them so enthusiastic and I congratulate them for this lifetime achievement.”

Organized by RideACycle Foundation (RACF), a not-for- profit advocacy organization, the event is aimed at promoting Cycling Tourism. RAC-F’s initiative is essentially aimed at bringing back the culture of Cycling by creating awareness in society on the virtues of using Cycle and its benefits.

 RAC-F also partners with Cycle-activists, Cycle Manufacturers, Cycling Communities and Government Organizations with a single minded devotion to provide a fillip to Cycling culture. RAC-F is convinced that children are the foundation of the Cycling culture and as a policy distributes free cycles for poor and deserving students.

Commenting on Indian Terrain TfN 2015, Sridhar Pabbisetty, Co-Founder, Tour of Nilgiris and Member, RACF, said, 'It was a delight to watch the riders relish the tour. They have shown great determination and discipline in the demanding 900 kms route that included never ending climbs, testing technical descents, crumbled and potholed roads as well as super-fast urban traffic. The forests provided ample animal sightings including elephants,
gaurs, nilgiri tahr, lion tailed macaques, peacocks, gaintmalabar squirrels and wild mongooses.

“Most importantly the protocol of going through the forests in groups along with escorts ensured no man animal conflict arose and we deeply appreciate the forest department for their advice and guidance.”

The Indian Terrain Tour of Nilgiris 2016 witnessed some spectacular timings registered by its participants keeping up the competitive spirit of the tour. The results are as under:

 Nils Eigil Bradtberg from Denmark emerged the winner in the Mens Elite

 Lena Mareike Josefine Robra from Germany emerged victorious in the Female category

 Arvind Bhateja from India led the Veteran category

 Venkateswara Rao Navasi from India was the fastest in the Masters category.
