Veera Tamilar Muannani protest seeking permission for Jallikattu

The Supreme Court has issued a ban on Jallikattu in its order, when hearing a case filed by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), an animal welfare organisation, which claimed that the bulls are subjected to cruelty during Jallikattu. Condemning this judgement, protests are being hosted all over Tamil Nadu,

Back home in Coimbatore, members of the Veera Tamilar Muannani today conducted a protest in front of the Taluk office in Coimbatore. The protests were lead by the Zonal in charge of this party. The protestors demanded that the central government should take necessary steps to conduct Jallikatt during the Pongal festival. They also demanded that the ban on Jallikattu should be removed and the PETA organisation should be banned.

When speaking to the press Arunranagarajan said, “PETA organisation which is headquartered in USA is acting as a middleman to stop Jallikattu. The ban is being imposed so that the US can take over the milk market in India and promote the Jersey cow breeds, which in turn will result in increase of diabetic patients in India. This will also help the pharma companies which are producing drugs for treating diabetes.” he said.
