To commemorate the 350th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the 10th Guru of the Sikhs, the Gurudwara Singh Sabha is hosting celebrations in the city. The celebrations, we are told will conclude on 5 January, which is the birthday of this saint. Today, as a part of the celebrations, a special show called Gatka was hosted at the Brookefields Mall in the city. Rotary Club Coimbatore joined hands with the Gurudwara Singh Sabha to host this show of Sikh martial arts.

Sharing information about Gatka, Gurpreet Singh, Vice President, Gurudwara Singh Sabha said “The aim of this event is to create awareness about the martial arts from Punjab. A team of 21 members from Punjab have been flown in from Punjab exclusively for this show. They are all experts in this form of martial arts.
