Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) members from Coimbatore today petitioned the Coimbatore collector seeking the implementation of Right to Education Act in the district. Through this petition,
AAP members have made 10 requests in relation to the implementation of Right to Education Act in Coimbatore. They are:
1. In the petition they have said that all the applications should be made through a website.
2. Each application should have a serial number or a code number.
3. All schools should maintain a separate notice board with the details of enrolments made under the Right to Education.
4. All applications should be given as per the Right to Education Act and no extra payment should be demanded from the parents, since central government is providing financial assistance to the schools.
5. Enrolees and selected pupils name list with all other details should be displayed in the notice board in front of the school gate.
6. Separate RTE office or camp office should be formed.
7. RTE emergency helpline numbers with name of the contact person should be mentioned in the application form.
8. Education department should encourage and promote RTE through various means like news papers, information boards, circulars, and radio channels and make Coimbatore as a model city in implementation of RTE.
10. Licensee of the schools which are not admitting students under the RTE should be cancelled.
