Public toilet contractor at Gandhipuram bus-stand pays for overcharging, CCMC terminates contract.

Coimbatore City Corporation has been acting stern on fleecing contractors at the vehicle parking stands and public toilets. During recent times, several contractors have been terminated from their contracts due to illegal collection of extra fare from the public. The first-time offenders were served with cautionary notices and fines, as well.

After CCMC asking the public to report on such fleecing incidents, several complaints were registered against the contractor at the Gandhipuram bus-stand. Public alleged that he had been collecting extra fare of Rs.3/- instead of Rs.1/- to use the toilets.

Upon, receiving complaints Deputy Commissioner P. Gandhimathi and other officials inspected the place and found him guilty. A warning notice was served to the contractor for fleecing the public.

Despite, the warnings, the Contractor Velusamy continued to charge over and above the said amount. Hence, today Special Officer, CCMC, Vijayakarthikeyan passed stern orders to terminate his contract with immediate effect.

Further speaking on this, Special Officer said that 'Those contractors who are illegally collecting extra fare at public toilets and parking lots will be taken to task. Their offense will lead to termination of contract and withholding of their cautionary deposit. And, the public should come forward and report such illegal incidents to the officials'.
