Thousands of Coimbatoreans voice their firm support to Jallikattu.

The 'Jallikattu wave' is getting stronger and stronger in the state of Tamil Nadu. Despite, the Apex Court reinstating it's ban decision over and over, the people of this region are not prepared to take ‘No’ as an answer for the conduct of Jallikattu. Millions of people, from across the globe, surprisingly the non-Tamils too, have reacted strongly and have put enough pressure on the government at the state and the centre to permit conduct of this traditional sport of the Tamils, from this Pongal.

In this regard, several thousand protestors gathered at the CODISSIA grounads to protest against the Supreme Court ban on Jallikattu, calling it baseless.

The public that included a mix of students, heads and representatives of NGOs, home makers and the ordinary citizens, raised slogans against the Supreme Court, central government and PETA for their adamant attitude behind Jallikattu verdict. Similar protests have been hosted in regions like Karur, Tirupur and many more in the state of TN.

Ahead of the auspicious four-day Tamil harvest festival, that is celebrated in the Tamil month of Thai, the people from all walks of life, are making last minute appeals to the state and central governments to allow the Jallikattu, which is the traditional sport associated with Pongal. It must be noted that this festival of harvest, is regarded as one of most auspicious festivals of the Tamils and the Jallikattu and Pongal go hand in hand. However, the writing is clear on the wall, ‘no’ says the Supreme Court to Jallikattu this Pongal.
