Coimbatore: With a blazing win over Thanjavur by 52 runs here at the PSG Medical College grounds on Tuesday, Coimbatore registered its first win in the TNCA Under-23 Inter-district Cricket Tournament being hosted by the Coimbatore District Cricket Association.

Cricket teams Coimbatore, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Dindigul, Erode, Ramanathapuram, Nilgiris and Theni are playing their first round matches here in the city which will take place till February 21.
The tournament is being conducted on a league basis where each team plays three matches in the first round and the table toppers will play the quarter finals on February 22 at the PSG Medical College grounds.
On the first day of the tournament, Coimbatore defeated Thanjavur by 52 runs, while Dindigul defeated Tiruvarur by 12 runs. In another first round match the at PSG IMSC grounds, Ramamathapuram defeated Erode by 11 runs and Nilgiris beat Theni by just 2 runs to register their respective first wins in the league stage.
