Nilgiris Collector Innocent Divya chairs special meeting to discuss school re-opening in The Nilgiris

During the meeting, District Collector Innocent Divya said that schools are to be opened for 10th and 12th standard students from 19th January and advised the officials about the Covid-19 situation at the districts in The Nilgiris.


The Nilgiris: With schools in the The Nilgiris to be opened from 19th January, District Collector Innocent Divya conducted a meeting with district health department officials, school education department officials and other district officials regarding the guidelines that is to be followed.

During the meeting, District Collector Innocent Divya said that schools are to be opened for 10th and 12th standard students from 19th January and advised the officials about the Covid-19 situation at the districts in The Nilgiris.

She said that there is a total of 218 schools in The Nilgiris with around 18,034 10th and 12th standard students who will be attending regular classes from Tuesday.

District Collector Innocent Divya then ordered the school authorities to follow the Covid-19 protocols and precautions completely. She then asked the school principals to monitor the students and teachers and asked them to wear masks mandatorily at all times.

In her address at the meeting, District Collector Innocent Divya added that school premises should be cleaned and sanitized before and after school hours. She then saud that schools must have adequate quantity of masks supplies and should maintain records of students body temperature and must use pulse and O2 readers. She also ordered that sanitizers teachers and students to use hand sanitizers often.

Then the District Collector ordered the school officials to clean the restrooms for the students regularly and ordered the school authorities to follow the 25 students per class ratio and advised the school authorities to immediately contact the health department incase of any symptoms found. She also advised the staffs that if a person has symptoms, he/she should be isolated in a separate room until the health department officials arrive.

Later District Collector Innocent Divya advised the teachers to encourage students wearing masks and asked them to increase the awareness of personal hygiene.

She also asked all the government officials to compulsorily follow the Covid-19 guidelines by the Tamilnadu government.

District Educational Officer Nasruddin, Deputy Director Palanisamy (Health Department), Assistant Director Balusamy (Sanitation Department) and other officials were present during this meeting.
