Transport Department to operate 230 special buses in from Coimbatore, Pollachi for Diwali

The transport department will operate special buses for Diwali and a temporary bus terminal will be set up in CODISSIA.

Coimbatore: Transport Department will operate 230 special buses from Coimbatore and Pollachi to other districts to clear the extra rush of passengers for the Diwali festive season.

With the Diwali festival that will be celebrated on 4th of the following month, special buses for passengers to travel across the state and to their hometowns from Coimbatore and Pollachi shall be operated. The buses will start operating from 30th October. Furthermore, a temporary bus depot is being constructed in CODISSIA on behalf of the TNSTC Coimbatore, to avoid traffic congestion.

Buses are currently operated from Gandhipuram Bus Stand in Coimbatore to destinations like Erode, Salem, Tirupur, Dharmapuri, Namakkal, and other places. Similarly, buses are operated from Singanallur bus stand to Trichy, Madurai, Sivagangai, Rameswaram, Tiruchendur, Nellai, Rajapalayam, Kumuli, Theni, and other districts. An additional of 200 buses will run from 30th of this month from source Coimbatore to destinations including Trichy, Salem, Madurai.

The temporary bus stand in CODISSIA is scheduled to be operational from 30th. Buses to Salem regions beyond Salem and Trichy places beyond Trichy will be operated from this temporary bus stand.

Bus parking facilities temporary shelter, drinking water, and toilet facilities are constructed in CODISSIA. Similarly, buses from Singanallur bus stand to Madurai and beyond Madurai route and buses passing through Theni and other routes will be operated from here. Special buses will be operated from the new and old bus stand at Pollachi. As many as 10 special buses are operated for Salem, Madurai, Trichy, and Theni.
