The centre has been designed to function round the clock as the central operational nerve centre for integrated policing, surveillance, emergency response, cyber monitoring, traffic management, women and child safety, disaster response, and crime prevention activities across the district.

According to an official release, Coimbatore, one of Tamil Nadu’s fastest-growing districts with a population exceeding 40 lakh, has witnessed rapid expansion in industries, education, information technology, tourism, and urban infrastructure. With increasing movement of migrant workers, students, tourists, and professionals from different parts of the State and the country, the need for technology-enabled policing and efficient emergency response systems has become essential for maintaining law and order and ensuring public safety.

Live CCTV feeds from across the district, including 28 ANPR cameras and 34 CCTV cameras installed at 13 State border check posts, along with 8 ANPR cameras and 26 CCTV cameras installed at 11 district border check posts, will be continuously monitored through the centre. In addition, CCTV clusters comprising more than 1,500 CCTV cameras installed across Pollachi, Valparai, Anaimalai, Periyanaickenpalayam, Karamadai, Sulur, and several other locations have also been integrated into the system.

The Smart Surveillance Desk continuously monitors live CCTV feeds, suspicious vehicle movements, ANPR systems, traffic violations, and criminal activities across the district.

The Social Media Monitoring Desk will identify rumours, misinformation, communal tension, public grievances, and law and order-related issues circulating on digital platforms for immediate preventive action. The Women and Child Safety Desk and Drug-Free Tamil Nadu Monitoring Desk focus on prompt enforcement actions relating to women’s safety, child protection, and narcotics-related complaints.

The Cyber Crime Desk monitors online scams, cyber frauds, and digital offences, while the Road Safety Desk supervises traffic regulation and accident prevention activities. The Court Monitoring Cell oversees E-Court proceedings, E-Summons, and court-related compliance matters. The Crime and Investigation Desk supports investigations through monitoring of CCTNS records, MOB and MCU databases, and habitual offender data.

Citizen-centric digital policing initiatives including the Kovai DIGI-COP WhatsApp Bot and Kaval Udhavi App have also been integrated with the MCCC to improve accessibility and delivery of police services to the public. The Predictive Policing Desk assists in proactive policing through crime trend analysis and intelligence-based monitoring, while the Disaster Management Desk coordinates rescue and relief measures during disasters and emergency situations.

Police officials stated that the Master Command and Control Centre will function as the technological and operational backbone of the Coimbatore District Police and will ensure faster, transparent, efficient, and citizen-friendly policing services for the people of the district round the clock.
