Makeshift bus stands, special buses to avoid congestion during Diwali festival: Transport Dept. Notification

Singanallur, Sulur, Central Bus Stand and New Bus Stand will function as temporary bus stands and additional buses will be operated to ease the Diwali rush.


Coimbatore: People working from outside the State in various cities like Coimbatore and Chennai generally travel to their native places on the occasion of Diwali to celebrate the festival. Due to this, additional bus stands and additional buses are operated by the State Transport Corporation to prevent crowding.

Accordingly this year too, the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation Coimbatore division has announced that changes have been made at the bus stand to deal with the Diwali rush.

Buses to Madurai, Theni and Southern districts will be operated from Singanallur bus stand.

Buses plying from Sulur bus stand via Karur and Trichy will be operated.

Buses plying from Coimbatore Central Bus Stand via Salem, Tirupur, Erode and Anaikatti will be operated.

Buses plying via Ooty, Mettupalayam and Sathyamangalam will be operated from the New Bus Stand on Mettupalayam Road.

These temporary bus stands will be operational from October 21 to 23. Special buses will also be operated to various places for the convenience of the general public.

Coimbatore - Theni - 40 buses

Coimbatore - Trichy - 50 buses

Coimbatore - Salem - 50 buses

Connecting buses will be operated from Gandhipuram City Bus Stand and Ukkadam Bus Stand to all the above bus stands. The Transport Department stated thus and urged the public to take advantage of it.
