Corporation Commissioner warns taxpayers to pay it on time, lest face consequences

“The defaulters' names and the balance amount will be published in daily newspapers and social media,” he said in a statement.


Coimbatore: City Corporation Commissioner M.Prathap issued a circular notifying to publish the names of the tax defaulters, who have large pending dues along with the amount in the daily newspapers if they failed to remit their tax dues before March 31.

The circular noted that those who have high arrears of property tax, professional tax, drinking water charges and other taxes are to be notified to pay the arrears on or before March 31.

“The defaulters' names and the balance amount will be published in daily newspapers and social media,” he said in a statement.

Earlier, the City Corporation arranged various special camps for taxpayers in various wards to pay their pending dues.

With just two days left before the deadline, this City corporation commissioner has come out with a warning for punitive action.
