Coimbatore corporation commissioner Dr. K. Vijayakarthikeyan today visited Seethalakshmi Maternity Hospital managed by the corporation to brief the staff and the doctors on the blood donation app launched yesterday. The blood donation is a part of the CCMC's social capital initiative.
When speaking on the occasion, CCMC Commissioner said, “The doctors and the nurses at the Corporation health centers in Coimbatore are doing a commendable work in the areas of Maternity treatment, vaccination programmes for newborns, Dengue abolition, and general medicine. The blood donation application will help the doctors and staff to facilitate to blood needs on emergency situations, on time. The app can be downloaded from Google play store from your mobile.

During emergency times, when a request for blood requirement is created through the app, alerts will be sent to the donors who are within a five-kilometre radius from the hospital. Hence, it allows the donors to rush to the hospital and donate blood on time. The people who are in urgent need of blood can contact the nearest corporation primary centres and can create request for their requirements. Soon, all doctors and staff of primary centres will be educated about usage of the app'
District welfare officer Dr. K. Santhoshkumar, Raveendhran of RAAC, Rtn.MPHF.PP.Arun Gokuldas ( a 72-year-old donor who has donated blood 168 times) district project manager (TANSAC) Gopala Krishnan, Social capital organiser Dinesh, doctors from the hospital, nurses and corporation officials were present during the launch.
