Bison gores man to death in Coonoor.

This morning at around 8:30 am, a man was killed by a bison at Thuthoormattam, a village, 20 km away from Coonoor.

 

Murugaiya (48) was on his way to his work at a tea estate in Thuthoormattam, this morning. It is reported that he encountered a bison at close quarters and while he attempted to escape the site, he was gored to death by the bison. Murugaiya sustained severe injuries and died on the spot.

Restless situation prevailed amongst the tea estate workers as their co-employee lost his life in a bison attack. They also stated that these days movement of bison have increased in their village and it pose a serious threat to their lives.

Reports say that, District Forest Officer arrived to the spot and inquired on the happenings and also handed over a initial cheque for Rs. 50,000 to Murugaiya's wife. His body has been taken to the government hospital for post-mortem examination.
