'Kongunattu samayal' an authentic cookery competition was organised as a part of the 'Coimbatore Vizha' today at the Sankara College of Science and Commerce.The competition was organised by the Department of Catering Science and Hotel Management of Sankara College of Science and Commerce.

The function was inaugurated by Ms. Nithya Ramachandran, Deputy Joint Secretary of the college. Close to 50 students of the catering department participated in the competition Students and prepared dishes from the palette of Kongunadu Cusine.

Traditional Kongu regions dishes like kadalai urundai, kambu halwa, thengai pal halwa, elaneer payasam, perichai laddu, sevapu arisi halwa, ragi chocolate laddu and much more enticing and forgotten recipes were prepared by the students.

Mr. Bernard Edward, Vice Principal and Chef Anandaraj from Department of Hotel Management evaluated the dishes and announced the awards. Dharun, Vidhya Mol and Rajeshwaran won the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively. Cash prizes along with certificates were awarded to the winners by the organisers of 'Coimbatore Vizha’. The event concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Bernard Edward, Vice Principal of the college.
