Jamaat-e-islami hind, an NGO, has requested the city administration to develop amenities like library, park at Karumbukkadai, an area that is located near Ukkadam in Coimbatore.
Abdul Hakkim, Public Relation Officer (PRO) of this NGO, through a press release stated, “There are more than 30,000 people living in and around Karubukkadai area. College and school students form a major part of the population. There is no bank in the locality at a time when the whole country is moving towards a digital economy. People from this area have to go to either Townhall, Podanur or Kuniamuthur to carry out financial transactions. A bank should be opened in this area for the benefit of the people and ease of transactions.”

“A majority of residents from this are area are from middle or poor income group. There is only one primary government school for the entire area. Parents with poor economic background are unable to send their children to private schools due to higher cost of fees. This makes it necessary to upgrade the school into a higher secondary school, thus making education available to all residents of this area. Also, a library should be constructed for the benefit of the school and college going students. To safeguard the interests of pregnant women, a primary health center should be allocated for this area.”

“As, Karumbukadai area this is in the central part of our city, traffic congestion has become a major issue in this area. There is no public transport facility for the students to go to school in the morning and get back home in the evening. Considering this present situation, the government should provide basic amenities in this area'.
