Goondas Act slapped on POCSO-accused for sexually assaulting 14-year-old girl in Coimbatore

Balraj, the accused under the POCSO Act for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl near Madukkarai has been booked under the Goondas Act on the orders of the Coimbatore District Collector G S Sameeran.


Coimbatore: Balraj (33), son of Mani, a native of Namakkal district allegedly sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl in Madukkarai police station limits, in Coimbatore district.

A case had been registered in this regard and the police are investigating. Recently, Balraj was arrested under the POCSO Act and sent to jail. Meanwhile, it was confirmed that the arrested person was a sex offender.

Following this, the Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police, V Badrinarayanan and the Coimbatore District Collector, G S Sameeran had recommended that action be taken against Balraj under the Goondas Act.

Accordingly, CollectorG S Sameeran ordered that action be taken against the accused under the Goondas Act. Following this, a case was registered under the Goondas Act against Balraj, the accused for sexually assaulting a minor girl, and he was sent to jail.
