Minister SP Velumani inaugrates the 18th AICP Conference hosted at Sri Krishna Educational Institution.

Sri Krishna Arts and Science College has joined hands with the Association of Indian College Principals (AICP) to host the 18th International Conference of this association which holds the motto ' Courage to Lead'. 


S.P. Velumani, Minister for Rural development declared open the conference this morning in the presence of Minister for higher education department, K.P. Anabalagan, S. Malarvizhi Managing Trustee of the Sri Krishna Educational Institutions, Vice Chancellor of Bharathiyar University A. Ganapathy, Subash Brahmbatt, AICP President V.R. Sregurukar, Chairman, AICP, R.K. Mahajan, General Secreatary, AICP.

Globally education has taken a paradigm shift from the usual routine way of teaching and learning into practical methods of learning and staying up-to-date with the trends. This transformation is gaining momentum. And, this requirement has changed the perspective of the educators' in handling higher education. Hence, it's important that the faculty members and the head of educational institutions stay updated with the trends of higher education system. At this conference, the participants who are Principals of eminent institutions will be discussing on topics like New education policy, 21st century education and the pressing issues faced by the educational sector will be discussed in detail.

Addressing the members of the AICP at the meeting, Minister SP Velumani stated that, 'The state of Tamil Nadu is in the forefront in terms of executing welfare schemes to the public. According to Former Chief Minister Jayalalitha's 2023 vision, Tamil Nadu will be the number one state in India for sustainable and inclusive development of people. Tamil Nadu has been refereed as the hub for higher education and medical facilities. 

As of the TN government operates 60 arts and science colleges, 25 engineering colleges and few deemed university in which close to one lakh students have been enrolled. Students from other states also benefit through the quality educational system available in our state. He requested the educationalists present at the conference to focus on outcome based education, encourage more start-up culture among the students and upgrade the technological tools required for inculcating world-class education at colleges.   



Minister for Higher Education, K.P Anbalagan in his address said,  'Tamil Nadu education system has always focused on access of equal and quality education. According to MHRD census, TN has 58 Universities and 2470 colleges. In India's Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) the state of Tamil Nadu stands first. Through introduction of skill development courses, lot of employment opportunities have been created for college students. TN contributes nearly 16 percent of the work force. Our state is undeniably setting example for all other states in India in terms of higher education. Such conferences should be organised frequently to discuss and share knowledge on the new policies that needs to be implemented to uplift our educational sector to even higher standards'. 

The new education policy draft, impact of OBE (outcome based education) in accreditation, promoting entrepreneurship through colleges, contribution of college education in national development, initiating and supporting start-up culture in colleges, role of incubation in higher education, changes in higher education to support 'Make In India' are some of the crucial topics that are scheduled to be discussed during this two-day international conference. 

This conference also serves as a platform for the Principals to express their views and the challenging situations faced by them. 

Undeniably, this conference will facilitate knowledge-sharing and to stay updated on the current trends in education. 



Dr. Avinanandan Mukherjee, Dean, College of Business Clayton State University, Georgia, USA will be addressing the gathering on Strategic Drivers in Higher Education: Disruption, Innovation, Engagement and Impact. 

Eminent academicians and heads of the institutions from various colleges will be discussing will be hosting seven other sessions on higher educations and close to 100 papers on the topic is due to be presented during the two-day session.
