Police nab ganja dealer during vehicle check; 1 kg of ganja seized

The police arrested the ganja dealer and seized 1.150 kg of ganja from him during a vehicle check on Coimbatore-Trichy road.


Coimbatore: The Coimbatore District police have beefed up security in the district aiming to eliminate drugs being hoarded and peddled.

On the orders of the Coimbatore District Police Inspector, V Badrinarayanan, the police have been arresting those involved in the sale of drugs like ganja. A team led by the Sub-Inspector, Rajendra Prasad of Sulur Police Station was conducting a routine intensive vehicle check on Coimbatore-Trichy road on Tuesday, when they spotted a person moving about in a suspicious manner.

When the man was detained and checked, the police found that he was selling ganja, a drug banned by the Government. Thereafter, the police arrested him and seized ganja weighing 1.150 kg from him. On further investigation, the man was identified as Dhanapal (24), son of Suresh, a native of Irugur. He was subsequently remanded to judicial custody.

The police have conitnuously reiterated to the public not to hesitate to inform them about persons indulging in such harmful illegal activities.
