Sivakumar, the president of Ganapathipalayam panchayat next to Udumalaipettai alleged "Since I belong to the Scheduled Caste community, I have been harassed by three ward councillors for their own selfish interests."
Tirupur: Sivakumar is the president of Ganapathipalayam panchayat in Udumalaipettai taluk of Tirupur district. On Monday (07.11.2022), he visited the District Collectorate, Tirupur and submitted a memorandum.
According to the petition, "Since I belong to the Scheduled Caste community, I have been harassed by three ward councillors for their own selfish interests.
Also, the three ward members who prevented me from doing my work were threatening me to get 10 per cent of the commission amount for the work done by the panchayat.
Because I refused, they accuse me of this. They also got into an argument against me at the recently concluded grama sabha meeting and disrupted the meeting.
When I went home after the meeting, they pushed me to the panchayat office, threatened me, snatched the letterpad, wrote some words and threatened me and took my signature.
"Since the letter was circulated on social media, untrue allegations are being made against me. I would like to inform you through this petition that I have not written that letter.
They have threatened and humiliated and threatened on the basis of caste by warning them that whatever work they want to do in the panchayat should be done with their permission.
Due to the stress caused by this, I have been forced to commit suicide along with my family. The District Collector should take immediate action in this regard.
