Hostel management trustee, warden of Sri Vivekananda Sevalaya arrested following death of 3 boys in shelter home in Tirupur

Two persons, including a hostel trustee, have been arrested in connection with the death of three children at Sri Vivekananda Sevalaya in Thirumuruganpoondi last month after consuming rotten food.



Tirupur: Sri Vivekananda Sewalaya Children's Home was functioning at Tirumuruganpoondi in Tirupur district. Its managing trustee is Senthilnathan (58). Also, Gopi Krishnan (54) was working as a warden.

15 children, including children who lost their parents, were staying in this shelter and were studying in a nearby school. In this situation, on the night of October 5th, 14 children who were in the nursery had sudden vomiting and diarrhea.

Meanwhile, the three affected children, Mathesh (15), Babu (13) and Adish (8) died tragically.



And 11 affected children were immediately rescued from there and admitted to Tirupur Government Hospital for treatment.



This incident caused great excitement and sadness not only in Tirupur but also in Tamil Nadu. The Revenue Department, Health Department and Police Department officials were investigating separately in this regard.

Also Senior IAS Officer Manivasan investigated the students and submitted a report, while Social Welfare Minister Geetha Jeevan visited the archive and ordered its closure.

After this, the Vivekananda Sevaalaya was closed and the police were on security duty in front of the sanctuary for the past one month. While Thirumuruganpoondi police registered a case and conducted an investigation, the body parts and food samples of the deceased children were sent for analysis. The test revealed that the food was not poisoned.

The police registered a case under various sections including negligence and causing loss of life, and arrested Senthilnathan (58), the managing trustee of the archive, and Gopi Krishnan (54), the hostel keeper.

In this case, both the arrested persons have been lodged in Coimbatore Central Jail.
