2 persons, including a woman, arrested for allegedly taking Rs 30 lakh as advance by showing someone else's land

Two owners of a construction company have been arrested for allegedly duping people of Rs 30 lakh in advance on the pretext of selling someone else's land in Kalapatti Nehru Nagar near Ondipudur.

Coimbatore: Karthik Prabhu is working as a teacher in Ondipudur Government School, Coimbatore. He approached Jagannathsingh and Kalaivani who were running a construction company in Ramanathapuram area of Coimbatore to buy new land and build a house.

In this case, both of them have shown a piece of land claiming to have a house in Kalapatti Nehru Nagar area. Karthik Prabhu and his wife liked that particular land and offered to buy it.

Jagannath Singh said that the price of this land is Rs 49 lakh and only if he pays Rs 30 lakh as an advance, he can start the next phase of the work.

Believing this, teacher Karthik Prabhu gave him Rs.30 lakhs as an advance.

But after this it is said that the house was not registered or a deed signed. It seems that the money was not returned even after asking about it several times.

In this case, when the teacher Karthik Prabhu inquired, it was revealed that the land shown to them belonged to someone else and they had fraudulently received Rs 30 lakh as an advance payment.

While Karthik Prabhu reported the fraud at Ramanathapuram Police Station, Coimbatore, the police registered a case and arrested Jagannath Singh and Kalaivani and are investigating.
