Villagers from Melmuduthurai near Karamadai today petitioned the district collector requesting supply of drinking water to their village.

In the petition, the villagers have said, “Fifteen families have been living in the Melmuduthurai village since the past ten years. Groundwater is supplied by the Panchayat through pipes. However, as the bore well has dried up and the motor pump is not working, water is not supplied by the panchayat for the past 5 months.”
“We are currently sourcing water from the nearest neighbouring villages like Kavundampalayam, Kaaranur, Kanuvakkarai to bring water.”
“We have petitioned the Mududurai executive officer, Karamdai Panchayat Union zonal development officer, Executive engineer, Mettupplayam drinking water, and drainage department officials to ensure that our village receives drinking water. However, no action has been taken in this regard till date.”
“Drinking water is supplied from the ground level river water storage tank with a capacity of 201 lakh 20 thousand liters and a pumping station to the nearby villages. But we do not get drinking water supply.”
“The district collector should take necessary action at the earliest, so that drinking water is supplied to our village.” they said in their petition.
