While 49 centres were set up for the Group-I examination in Coimbatore, only candidates who arrived by 9 pm were allowed to appear for the exam after intensive checking.

Coimbatore: Five Flying Squad Officers, 12 Mobile Officers and 49 Examination Hall Monitoring Officers have been appointed in the cadre of Deputy Collector to monitor the examination. Meanwhile, the exam was held from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm today. In this case, the candidates had been directed to be inside the examination centre by 9 am. Accordingly, the candidates who came to the examination centre on time were admitted and those who came after 9.30 am were turned back without being allowed entry into the examination hall since the doors were closed.

All candidates had to undergo intensive checking by the police before entering the hall. In order to avoid impersonation, the candidates were allowed inside only after checking their hall ticket. It is to be noted that the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) has operated special buses from Gandhipuram and Ukkadam bus stands to facilitate easy access to the examination centre.

Similarly, in Tirupur district, Group 1 exam was held on Saturday. For this, 20 centres were set up in Tirupur and exams were held. According to the TNPSC, while 5,856 candidates had applied for the exam, 2,617 did not appear for the exam.
