More than 100 people, including women cadres, participated in a protest organised by the Ikkiya Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam at Kuniyamuthur on the occasion of Babri masjid demolition day and raised slogans demanding protection of 'right to worship'.
Coimbatore: On the occasion of Babri Masjid Day, Muslim organisations are protesting at various places. As part of this, a protest was held at Kuniyamuthur in Coimbatore on behalf of the Ikkiya Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam.
District President Feroz Khan led the protest, which demanded the rights of worship should be protected. District presidents of the organisation from Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem and Namakkal districts also took part in the agitation.
The protesters also noted that Muslims should not be falsely prosecuted. They also raised slogans demanding the release of those who have been langishing in jails for more than a decade.
Members of various organisations including Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, Tamil Tiger Party and Revolutionary Youth League participated and lent their support to the protest.
