Mayor Kalpana inaugurates renovated dog sterilisation center in Ward No 86

City Mayor kalpana Anandakumar inaugurated the renovated dog sterilisation center at Ukkadam Pullukadu area, which comes under 86th ward by lighting a ceremonial lamp.



Coimbatore: City Mayor Kalpana Anandakumar inaugurated the renovated dog sterilisation centre at the Ukkadam Pullukadu area, which comes under the 86th ward by lighting a ceremonial lamp.



The dog sterilisation centre in Ukkadam,was renovated recently and brought to public use.



Following this, Mayor Kalpana flagged off a new vehicle to catch the roaming cattle causing public inconvenience on the city roads and streets.



"Around 2,300 street dogs were captured and sterilised as per law between March and November last year through the dog sterilisation centres functioning at Seeranaikkanpalayam and Ondipudur in Coimbatore Corporation" she said.

The centers were being given an incentive of Rs.445 till August. The incentive of Rs.700 has been increased since September.



"At present, the vehicle has also been arranged to catch cattle that are causing hindrance to traffic on the road and on the streets.



The vehicle will be used to capture and safely transport street-roaming cattle" said Corporation officials.



Deputy Mayor R. Vetrichelvan, Deputy Commissioner Dr. M. Sharmila, Health Committee Chairman Marichelvan, Councillor Ahmed Habeer, Assistant Urban Welfare Officer Vasanth Diwakar, Veterinary Doctor Senthilnathan, Assistant Executive Engineer Karuppusamy, Zonal Health Officer Ramu, Pani Mithran NGO and corporation officials were present on the occasion.
