The School of Communication of Dr.G.R.D.College of Arts and Science today hosted a social awareness based advertising campaign at their college campus.The campaign was inaugurated by Dr.T.Santha, Principal of the College in the presence of Dr.Radha, Head of Visual Communication Department and other staff members.

The campaign threw light on various pressing and neglected issues in the society like Nastha (importance of breakfast , Lights Out (High Beam Light Issue), Oram Po (Road Safety), Fit O Fit ( Physical Fitness) Disguise Free (ill effects of Cosmetics), Beep-Beep (abstaining from using offensive language in public places), Adulteration, consequences of drink and drive, Demonetization, Pollution and Cyber Bullying.

Students of School of Communication, GRD hosted stalls to create awareness regarding the above-mentioned topics. As a part of the event, fun games related to each cause were also conducted by the students to create a better reach for the cause.

Mohanasudhan, Assistant Professor of the department while speaking with SimpliCity shared that, 'A subject focusing on advertising campaign is taught to the students in the first year followed by a project work. To add more meaning to the subject, we planned to attach a social cause to it. By combining advertising campaign with pressing social issues faced by the people, students will get an in-depth knowledge in the subject and also it reminds them to be socially responsible. Each stall hosted at this event is wholesomely designed by the students, by doing so it kindles their organizing and event management skills.

While interacting to the students, they stated that it was a fun and thoughtful programme which has helped them develop their skill set and widen their knowledge on the subject.
