Over 1000 devotees receive 'darshan' during Karthigai Deepam festival at Dharmalingeshwarar Temple in city's Madukkarai area

A large number of devotees received the 'Maha Deepam' darshan as it was lit at the famous Shree Dharmalingeshwarar Hill Temple in Madukkarai on the occasion of Karthigai Deepam festival. The festival was celebrated with grand religious fervour since it was being celebrated after a gap of two years due to the pandemic.

Coimbatore: The famous Dharmalingeshwarar Temple at Madukkarai in Coimbatore district celebrates annually the 'Karthigai Deepam' festival. But due to the Covid-19 lockdown, for the last two years, the 'Maha Deepam' was lit without devotees as per Government norms.

After two years, 'Karthigai Maha Deepam' was lit in Dharmalingeswarar Temple without Covid restrictions.

Earlier, the temple authorities along with devotees circumambulated the temple and lit the 'Maha Deepam' on the pole in front of Lord Nandi. Following this, lamps were also lit to the deities of Vinayaka, Indralingam, Agnilingam and Naga Amman at the foothills. Finally, abhishekam and annadhanam were performed.

More than 1,000 devotees participated in the ceremony and received the darshan at the temple. Special abhishekam to Lord Dharmalingeshwar will be performed on December 8 at 4.30 pm.

On the third day, the lighting of the Maha Deepam will also be held at 6 pm. Devotees have been offering cow ghee at the temple for lighting the lamp at the top of the hill, continuously for three days.
