Nilgiris: The forest department has caught a troubled PM2 Makna elephant, which has been continuously attacking houses and humans in Devala, Puliyambarai and Vazhavayal areas near Gudalur in the Nilgiris district, by administering an anaesthesia injection.
After PM2 Makna elephant killed an elderly woman in Pappathi today after damaging her apartment in Vazhavayal area on the November 19th, The demand for capturing the elephant grew stronger.
The Tamil Nadu government, which had taken up several rounds of protests such as road blockades and petitions to the collector, bowed to the demands of the people of Gudalur and issued an order to capture the elephant.
Since the 21st, more than 50 forest officials have been actively engaged in capturing the PM-2 Makna elephant. Though the forest department has been using various initiatives such as drones, surveillance cameras, etc.
During the night hours, he damaged residential areas in and around Gudalur, including Puliyamparai, Vasikolli, Devala. As the PM2 elephant entered the dense forest area during the day, there was a great problem in catching the elephant.

Accordingly, at around 2 pm today, two doctors sat on kumki elephants and administered an anaesthesia injection to the PM2 elephant at Maraikolli.
With the help of four Kumki elephants - Vijay, Sujay, Krishna and Wasim - the forest department is actively engaged in the task of transporting the captured PM2 elephant to mudumalai forest.
As there was a delay in catching the Elephant Makna, which had been engaged in an unruly attack, The people of Gudalur, who were afraid that humans would be in danger by the elephant at any time, are now relieved to hear the news that the elephant has been captured.
