District Collector briefs on the arrangements for the up-coming Koniamman Car festival.


Coimbatore District Collector T.N. Hariharan today convened a meeting at the Collector's office to discuss the arrangements that have to be made for the trial run of the Koniamman temple car festival which is to be held on 13.02.2017. The annual festival of the Koniamman temple  is to be held from 21.02.2017 to 06.03.2017. The main car festival is scheduled to take place on 1st March, 2017. 

*A metal detector has been installed to prevent any untoward incidents during the Koniamman temple festival. A team of police personnel deployed for security reasons will be in nonuniform. Additional protection will be provided around the place where the rope to the temple car will be held by the devotees. 

*The vehicular traffic will be diverted during the temple car procession. Details of traffic diversion will be informed well ahead to the public.

*Arrangements have been made for a fire engine to be stationed inside the temple and another fire engine will be kept ready during the day of the procession. A full-fledged medical team will also be present during the procession.

*Arrangements have been made for an uninterrupted supply of drinking water during the procession. Water will be sprayed on the procession path 2 hours ahead of the the start of procession.

*The electric lines in the procession path will be removed temporarily so that the temple car procession will pass smoothly.

*The roads have been repaired to remove all potholes.

Assistant commissioner of Police, Lakshmi IPS, Personal secretaries to District Collectors Pa. Chidambaram, Thasildar Mathuranthagi, Executive Officer of Koniamman temple, K. Vimala, Fire and Rescue Department Official, Chandran, Revenue Department Officials, Police Personnel and Government Officials attended the meeting.
