Over 2,000 devotees take part in Alanthurai Sri Dharmasastha Ayyappan Temple 'Vilakku Pooja'

In view of the Margazhi Tamil month, Vilakku pooja was performed at Arulmigu Sri Dharmasastha Ayyappan temple in Alanthurai. The vilakku pooja, is being held at the temple for the subsequent 32nd year.



Coimbatore: Around 2,000 devotees participated in the Vilakku pooja of Sri Dharmasastha Ayyappa temple in Alanthurai, which was held with religious fervour.



Arulmigu Sri Dharmasastha Ayyappa Temple at Alanthurai in Coimbatore conducts vilakku pooja every year in the month of Margazhi and the lamp pooja and special poojas started on Friday on Margazhi 1st. The poojas which will be held for 7 days, will be attended by a large number of devotees from Alanthurai and surrounding areas.

Accordingly, the Akhanda Namam pooja was held on Saturday. In pursuance of this, Sri Dharmasastha Lord Ayyappan vilakku pooja was performed in a grand manner on Sunday.

In the 32nd anniversary of the lamp pooja children along with their parents participated in larger numbers and they carried lamps for about a kilometre from near Vinayaka temple.

More than 300 people marched towards the temple in a procession. In this procession, a golden idol of Lord Ayyappa weighing about 98 sovereigns was taken out in a procession.

During this procession, the devotees came dancing with offerings and later offered prayers.
