Even as Covid cases are reportedly on the increase in various countries of the world, preventive measures have been intensified at the Coimbatore airport in line with the advisory from the Union Health Ministry.
Coimbatore: The Coimbatore International Airport is the hub for the operation of 23 flights daily, including domestic and foreign airways. Meanwhile, Covid cases have been reported as spreading rapidly again in various countries of the world.
Due to this, the Union Health Ministry has advised all State Governments to take precautionary measures. Based on this advisory, Covid prevention measures have been intensified at the Coimbatore International Airport.
"A medical team is working at the airport premises on behalf of the Health Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu. Tickets are being issued on the basis of an undertaking to get vaccinated to travel in the domestic aviation sector at Coimbatore airport. Tickets are being issued on the basis of documents pertaining to two doses of vaccination for foreign passengers.
While RT-PCR testing was being done on all passengers coming from abroad, in the recent past, only certain passengers, including those arriving with cold and flu cases, were being screened.
Precautionary measures have been stepped up again following the Central Government's instructions. Wearing masks, social distancing, sanitising of hands etc have become mandatory. After the circular arrives today or tomorrow, the tests will be increased again as before, accordingly," stated airport officials.
