Body of soldier from Palakkad, who died in an accident in Sikkim, received in Coimbatore airport

The body of Vaisakh, a soldier from Palakkad, who was killed in an army vehicle crash in Sikkim, arrived in Coimbatore by air. He was paid military honours and sent to his hometown.


Coimbatore: On December 23, an Army convoy carrying soldiers was on its way to Thangu from Satan in Sikkim.

The vehicle suddenly lost control of the vehicle and rolled into the valley and met with the accident when it was turning on a bend at Sema in the north. As many as 16 soldiers in an army vehicle were killed in the accident.

Four of the injured personnel have been admitted to a hospital and are undergoing treatment. The accident has now sent shockwaves across the country and authorities are investigating the matter.

An army jawan from Palakkad, Vaishakh, was also killed in the accident. His body was brought to coimbatore airport today. There, his body was accorded military honours.



Commander Biju laid a wreath and paid homage. Thereafter, his body was taken to his native place Palakkad by a mortuary van.
