Following the Central Government's warning about the spread of Covid globally, Tirupur District Collector, S Vineeth, personally inspected measures to tackle Covid at the Government Headquarters Hospital and Medical College in Tirupur district.

Tirupur: With the surge in the spread of Covid-19 cases across various countries of the world, including China, the Indian Government has stepped up Covid restrictions and precautionary measures.

Meanwhile, Central Health Minister Mansukh L Mandaviya held discussions with experts in various fields in Delhi and has also instructed States to intensify Corona preventive measures in all parts of the country.

Accordingly, the Tamil Nadu Government has also instructed all districts to intensify Covid preparedness and be on standby.

As part of this initiative, the Tirupur District Collector, S Vineeth personally inspected Covid preparedness at the Government Headquarters Hospital and Medical College in Tirupur.

Measures of Covid testing, vaccination against Covid and setting up of a separate bed facility for those infected with Covid are also being stepped up. The Tirupur Collector also reviewed the matter with the Dean of Tirupur District Government Hospital and Medical College, Murugesan.

Earlier, surveillance centres were opened at all international airports and thermal screening to detect fever for passengers at the entrances. Guidelines have also been issued for random testing of two percent of the passengers.

According to experts, the Omicron variant that is currently circulating is a subtype of BA5, the BF7 coronavirus, with the mortality rate and hospitalisation rate very low despite the fact that four people have been detected in India and are more transmissible than the previous Omega-19 virus.

However, people have been advised to remain vigilant and follow Covid precautionary measures such as wearing masks, sanitising hands and social distancing.
