The women alleged that only the 56 people who were selected by a person from the ruling party were given house site pattas.
Coimbatore: About 86 families from Vellalore Valliammaipuram in Coimbatore district had applied for free house site pattas. Of the 86 petitions filed, 56 of the petitions were done in the presence of the Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development, Udhayanidhi Stalin, on Sunday.

Women from the area staged a dharna near the Vellalore bus stop alleging that the 56 house site pattas were issued but the remaining 30 people who had applied were not given house site pattas.
Speaking on the issue, the women said, "56 people had been selected by a person from the ruling party and house site pattas were issued to them. But we, who had applied along with them, were not given the pattas. Therefore, we request that we should be given house site pattas immediately."
Following this, the Podanur police reached the spot and held talks with the protesting women and assured them that appropriate action would be taken.

The protesting women later dispersed from there. Tension prevailed in the Vellalore area for some time owing to the road blockade by the women.
