Kuniyamuthur Police are on the lookout for unidentified persons who broke into the houses of a retired Assistant Commissioner of Police and a Constable, and decamped with 63 sovereigns of jewellery when the two were away attending a New Year Mass at a church.
Coimbatore: Kapilan Premkumar hails from Kuniyamuthur and the retired Assistant commissioner had gone to the church with his friend a retired traffic Head Constable John Xavier, who lives nearby, for the New Year's mass
When the two returned home around 2 am after the New Year mass they found out that the locks of the front door of their respective houses had been broken open.
Premkumar found out that the cupboard had been broken open and 35 sovereigns of jewellery stolen from his house.
Similarly, the burglars also stole at John Xavier's house and took away 28 sovereigns of jewellery.
Following this, the two lodged a complaint with the Kuniyamuthur police station. Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case and are investigating.
