CCTV footage of elephant attack on pedestrian in Wayanad has gone viral

The CCTV footage of the PM-2 Makna elephant which had been captured in Gudalur area and released in Segur forest area recently, assaulting a pedestrian in Patheri town in Wayanad, Kerala has gone viral on social media.


The Nilgiris: The PM-2 Makna elephant which has been roaming around in Devala area near Gudalur in the Nilgiris district for the past four years, has been responsible for over 50 houses being demolished and two persons being attacked and killed.

Last month, the elephant was caught after an anaesthesia injection was administered and a radio collar fitted around its neck and released in the Segur forest area. But the elephant returned towards Gudalur via Mudumalai.

Subsequently, the Forest Department with the help of Kumki elephants tried to drive the elephant back into the forest area of Karnataka. But the elephant suddenly entered the Muthanga forest on the Kerala border. The elephant, which had been roaming in the Muthanga forest area for the past few days, entered Sultan Bathery town in Wayanad district in the wee hours of Friday.



The elephant, which was roaming on the main roads, attacked a man who was walking on the road in the early hours of the morning. Fortunately, the man survived and the elephant has reportedly entered another area. In the meantime, a CCTV footage of the Makna elephant attacking the pedestrian has been released.
