Police resorted to mild lathi charge on Ajith's fans who were involved in an incident in which they trespassed into a theatre and entered into an argument with the theatre staff.

Coimbatore: On the occasion of Thai Pongal, Ajith Kumar's 'Thunivu' and actor Vijay's 'Varisu 'have been released simultaneously across the globe today.

Fans of the actors are celebrating the simultaneous release of the film after many years.

While the film was released at 1 am at Archana Theatre in the city, Ajith's fans gathered in front of the theatre to celebrate the occasion.

However, trouble brewed when some of the fans barged into the theatre and entered into an argument with the theatre staff.

Following this, the police, who were on duty there, resorted to mild lath charge to bring the situation under control.
