For the benefit of the public going to their native places on the occasion of Pongal festival, 240 special buses have been operated from Coimbatore to other districts from today onwards.
Coimbatore: During holidays like Pongal and Deepavali, a large number of people visit their native places. Since those working in private and government offices are given holidays for up to a week for the Pongal festival, a large number of people flock to their native places.
In this situation, special buses have been arranged for the convenience of the public going from Coimbatore to other districts. Buses are operated from four major bus stands under the Coimbatore division.
Buses will be operated from Singanallur bus stand to the southern districts including Madurai and Theni and from from Sulur bus stand to destinations via Karur and Trichy.
From the central bus stand buses will be operated via Salem, Tirupur, Erode, Anaikatti and Sathyamangalam and from the new bus stand to Ooty and Mettupalayam.
The TNSTC has announced that the special buses will be operated from January 12 to 14.
Accordingly 100 buses will be operated to Madurai, 40 to Theni, 50 to Trichy and 50 in Salem routes.
