In his address, he stressed on the importance of a guru (teacher) in one’s life. “Those who respect their teacher alone have come up in life. When I studied in school, the teacher had every right to punish and beat the students in order to discipline them. However, today if a teacher takes to physical punishment, an FIR is filed against the teacher and the school gets a bad name. The education scene has witnessed a drastic change. However, one thing that remains unchanged is the respect that students have for their teachers. A teacher shapes the character, caliber and the future of the student. It is a very nice gesture of the Nehru Group of Institutions to honor the teachers with such awards year after year.” Muhamed Jiyaputheen said.
