'It was the coolest marathon ever', say participants of Neon Marathon by Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM.

‘It’s hot’ is the tag line for radio station Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM. But, this latest event courtesy radio station Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM makes them a very cool radio station. We’re making mention of the Neon Marathon called 'Mirichi Neon Run' that was organized by Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM at CODISSIA grounds in Coimbatore, on Saturday.

This is the second time that our city is witnessing a neon themed marathon. Over 2,500 runners participated in this run. The youngest participant was a six-year old kid while the oldest was a 60 year-old senior citizen.

There were neon lights everywhere at the venue. Runners were given neon glow sticks and head bands of varied hues. And before the participants ran this cool marathon, they were put through a fun-filled warm up exercise session. The tempo of the music filled the air and a few Zumba warm up moves boosted the spirits of the runners.

Speaking to SimpliCity, RJ Marconi of radio station Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM said “The Mirichi Neon Run is more a fun run and less a marathon. The outstanding part of the evening was when all the UV lights were turned on and when the neon powers were blasted.”

Then was the official flag-off and the participants were given a choice to either run or walk through the entire three-kilometre route. The electrifying dance performance by the participants along the route, undeniably added more zing to the event. This neon marathon proved to be a good exercise for the participants and for the on-lookers it was a real feast for the eyes.

Like all good things come to an end, so did the marathon. In order to send the participants happy, back home, a session of Zumba warm down was conducted.
