CCTV footage reveals leopard roaming near Kallatti check post next to Ooty

The CCTV footage of the leopard roaming near Kallatti check post at midnight has set the social media abuzz.



The Nilgiris: The Kallatti Hill Road is one of the main roads in the Nilgiris district. This mountain road has 36 dangerous hairpin bends and it is considered a tricky hill road.

A check post has been set up on behalf of the Forest department in the area to keep various crimes under check including poaching of wildlife.

The hill route is used by the general public going from Ooty to Masinagudi as well as tourists from other states including Karnataka and Kerala.



In the meanwhile, a leopard frequently roaming around at night near the check post has been caught on camera which made the staff doing night duty fear for the wild animal incursion. They said that they have to be on vigil for the carnivore, visiting the check post.

The CCTV footage of the leopard roaming near the check post has now gone viral on social media and created a lot of fear and excitement.
