Woeful condition of TNSTC buses makes commuters life miserable near Udumalaipet

Residents have complained that government buses plying to Udumalaipet and surrounding areas in Tirupur district are in a dilapidated condition and stops midway due to breakdown.



Tirupur. In the past few weeks, incidents of TNSTC buses developing mechanical faults and stopping midway have increased in numbers. The low and middle class passengers are affected due to this.

Even as households have two-wheelers, but they often rely on buses to commute due to rise in petrol prices. The free travel scheme for women introduced by the TN Government has increased the use of buses by womenfolk.

Similarly, government buses have been a prime mode of transport for school and college students.

In this situation, it is said that the government buses plying in Udumalaipet and its surrounding areas in Tirupur district are not maintained properly.

Due to the old and dilapidates buses operated in rural areas people are put to extreme hardship.



In recent days, a government bus, which was on its way to Amaravathi, suddenly broke down and stopped near Bodipatti, leaving the passengers stranded and unable to reach their destination on time.

According to some of the passengers” Even though we depend heavily on government buses for transport, the Udumalaipet TNSTC management is not taking steps to maintain them properly. As a result, buses often experience break down and stops in the midway.

“Buses also remain dirty, due to lack of maintenance, and TNSTC authorities should address the grievances of the travelling public and repair or introduce new buses in these routes” the commuters said.
