Bangladeshi national arrested for travelling on a fake passport at the City Airport

A Bangladeshi youth, who had come to India on a fake passport, was arrested at Coimbatore airport.


Coimbatore: The City Airport authorities nabbed a Bangladesh citizen who travelled to Coimbatore on a fake passport.

The passenger arrived on an Air-Arabia flight from Sharjah to Coimbatore.

When the customs authorities interrogated him, it was found out that he had used a fake passport to travel to India.

At first the youth claimed that he was from West Bengal. The passport he was carrying also had the words "State of West Bengal".

However, on suspicion, the authorities asked him to sing the national anthem.

When he floundered, the customs officials turned him over to Peelamedu police.

During further interrogation, it was found that the arrested person was one Anwar Hussain (28), a Bangladeshi national, who had come to Coimbatore on a fake passport.

Peelamedu Police arrested Anwar Hussain and registered a case against him under sections 14-C of Foreigners Act and 12(1A) of Indian Passport act.
