'Students should stay updated on news and happenings around them' says Prof. Santhi of Sree Narayana Guru College


C. B. Santhi, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Sree Narayana Guru College was the speaker at the day-long seminar on ‘Importance of English in Business World’ recently hosted at this college.



In her address to the students she stressed on the importance of cultivating the habit of reading the newspaper every day. She said “While reading the daily news, we gather information about the happenings around us and it also gives us the knowledge to interact with others. Apart from this, reading the daily newspaper gives us the knowledge on aspects like what we should be doing and what we should not.”

Moving the focus to how the information that we gather by reading the newspaper can be used, the speaker said “When you read the newspaper it will be helpful for preparing and delivering talks on subjects that you are required to talk about. You can deliver the speech to the point and need to make the most of the subjects with diversifying the areas of the subjects to make it more interesting.” By doing so, Santhi told her student audience that they could become a leader among the group.



In her speech, she emphasised on the importance of viewing the news channels for understanding usage of the proposition of the words and phrases. “While engaging yourself in these activities you will start using communication in the business world in a better way” she said.
