Whopping electricity bill range shocks residents near Dharapuram; Action against officials demanded

People in and around Kundadam, next to Dharapuram, have alleged that their electricity bill which usually falls in the range of Rs. 60, Rs.100, Rs. 350 and Rs.500 per month has suddenly skyrocketed to a range of Rs.1500 to Rs. 32,000 since the electricity was not enumerated for the last eight months and now the calculation had been done.



Tiruppur: In a shocking incident for residents of Kundadam, next to Dharapuram, a total of Rs 32,000 has been collected as electricity bill with authorities having done electricity calculations in total for the past eight months.



Chakravarthy, a local enumerator, had not been able to calculate and bill the electricity used for the past eight months in the areas under Kundadam North electricity office next to Dharapuram.



Locals complain that the electricity bill which used to amount to Rs. 60, Rs. 100, Rs. 350 and Rs. 500 per month, has now soared to a range of Rs.1500 to Rs. 32,000.

The residents of the area have also demanded that departmental action ought to be initiated against the Inspector, Revenue Supervisor, Assistant Electrical Engineer, Evaluation Officer, Assistant Executive Engineer and Executive engineer for failing to monitor the enumerator for more than eight months.

They also demanded that strict action should be taken against all those who caused loss to the Government and inconvenience to the public.

Due to the mental agony caused to power consumers, no electricity connection of any power consumer should be disconnected till a proper inquiry is conducted.

Kundadam Town, Sangapalayam, Muthanampatti, Ammapalayam, Jothiyampatti, Vengipalayam, Ramanathapuram, Kattankanni, Sevathampatti, Senkalipalayam, Ganapathipalayam, Rudravathi, Puthurudravathi, Idayapatti, Karaipalayam and Kokkampalayam areas have not been properly accounted for.
