City Police organize 'World Cancer Day' Awareness camp for women cops

On the occasion of World Cancer Day, being observed today the city police conducted a special cancer awareness camp for women constables working with TN police.



Coimbatore: In 2000, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared February 4 as 'World Cancer Day' to create awareness about various cancers affecting mankind.

Accordingly, this year's World Cancer Day is being observed today.



As a part of this, the Coimbatore City Police conducted a cancer awareness camp at a private college near Peelamedu, focusing on women police personnel working in the city.



The camp was inaugurated by City Police Commissioner Balakrishnan.



Speaking on the occasion, the Police Commissioner said, "In films in the olden days, cancer was shown as a scary and untreatable disease, but that’s not the case anymore”.



“It is a fact that cancer is curable, I hope this awareness camp on cancer will create a positive outlook about cancer and its diagnosis and treatment protocols," he said.
