3.73 kg gold smuggled from Singapore to Coimbatore - Three including two women, arrested

Three persons, Abubacker Siddique (34) from Trichy, Priya (36) and Srimathi (29) from Coimbatore have been arrested for allegedly smuggling 3.73 kg of gold worth Rs 2.19 crore from Singapore to Coimbatore by air, concealing it in undergarments and in their rectums.



Coimbatore: A total of 3.73 kg of smuggled gold worth Rs 2.19 crore has been seized at the Coimbatore airport.

The central special revenue intelligence officers inspected the belongings of the passengers of the Scoot flight from Singapore to Coimbatore.

Abubacker Siddique (34) from Trichy, Priya (36) and Srimathi (29) from Coimbatore were examined. Undergarments, and gold jewellery in the rectum, concealed in gold bars were found to have been smuggled.

Following this, the officials arrested the trio and seized around 3.73 kg of gold worth Rs 2.19 crore from their possession. The authorities are continuing to interrogate all the three arrested persons.
